Well, it might sound like the ramblings of a drunk, but considering where we spend a good portion of our lives, maybe not. I wanted to ask you about the whole time travel thing you had going on last year.

I've got a friend who's having some trouble with a friend she's got stuck in the past, and it'd be kind of bad if he found out anything about what's waiting for him in the future. I think her plan's something along the lines of "don't tell him anything", but you know how it is, there's always someone there who might mess it up.

... Basically, what are the rules with trying to pull the strings on time travel stuff without causing a time paradox of some sort, I guess.

Advice, though... well, I'd say she's probably got the right idea, to be honest, if she can keep that up. Messing with your timestream is one of the big Don'ts of time travel, if I picked anything up from that year. The Doctor can tell which events are fixed and which can be changed, but us normal folk can't. Pulling the wrong string on the timestream could unravel the whole thing.

... so basically, Don't Touch Anything. That's fair enough, but what do I do if the problem's more likely to be caused by a somewhat prejudiced third party? Hop in and explain that he might seriously screw something up?

Probably not. You know this community, sooner or later they're likely to run into each other even without all this time stuff to mess it up even more.
