[RL w/ Haruhi - Union (California)]

It was sunny, but not sunbathing weather. That meant the park he'd chosen was quiet, which was a good thing as he didn't want Haruhi's worldhopping to attract attention. Lockon was leaning on a tree, in the shade, flipping idly through a book while he waited.

"Twelve noon! Twelve noon!" came a robotic voice from down by his feet. Lockon looked down at Haro, and then up and at the surrounding area.

"Any minute now," he murmured, returning to his book but keeping his ears open for any unusual sounds.

[That counts as an unusual sound! Gathers up Haro and walks over towards the box.] Ah, I've seen this before. What was it called, again?

TARDIS! TARDIS!

Right, that's the one. It's the Doctor's, isn't it? [reaching the door]

[Hey guess what, the aforementioned Doctor is now opening the door and he heard you, thar.]

Yes, actually, it is mine. Which I suppose means that I've reached the right place.

[Blinked in suprise when Ten opened the door, then smiled a little sheepishly and looked like he was about to say something when BAM, HARUHI OUT OF NOWHERE--]

--and grins at enthusiastic!Ru.] Yep, you proved it. That's some talent you've got there. [still grinning, a small glance at Ten, as if to say 'and I'm sure you had nothing to do with it, right?']

[Totally almost toppled over when Haruhi jumped on him - just cause he's used to it doesn't mean that the way she jumped on him wasn't unexpected!]

Oi, watch where you're jumping, you're gonna damage something one of these days! [Except he's totally making sure that she's not going to fall off his back.]

[Ten sees that glance of yours, Lockon, and raises you an 'oh, of course not!' one right back!]

[wraps her arms around his neck and sulks]

You're an alien! You should be able to take this sort of thing.

[woah, woah, wat.] "You're an alien, Doctor?"

[pauses, then runs a hand through his hair with a small laugh.] "I didn't know that. Have to say, I didn't expect to be meeting up with extraterrestrial life today."

[timey_wimey]

[Flashes him that Ten grin] "Yup! 100% alien, through and through. Funny how that always seems to get people. Well, I say 100%, there's that whole business about my mother's side of the family. But we don't talk about that."

[Nudges the door open a little further] "Now, much as I'd love to stand here in my doorway all day chit-chatting, are we coming out or are you coming in?"

[kicks playfully at Ten's sides]

Well, you don't much look like a traditional alien, not green or waving tentacles, so it's something of a suprise. [shrugs, returning the grin]

[...lol, haruhi. steps back again and indicates the park outside.] Looks like the decision's made. It's nice out here, anyway.

[Mock-indignantly] Oi, that's discrimination against extra-terrestrial lifeforms, that is! We don't all look like bog monsters.

Looks like~! Alright then, allonsy! [Walks out of the TARDIS with Haruhi still on his back]

[Raises hands in mock-defense] Hey, I've not exactly had enough experience with aliens before now to get rid of that idea.

[Falls into step beside them, heading towards the grassy area next to the woods] But you get to see the stars more than down here, right?

Ah, but you've joined Triple D now. You need to leave all of those preconceptions of yours behind~!

Mmm, not always. The TARDIS does have an observatory room, but it's just the one. Besides, I like a bit of sun.

[laughs] I guess once you accept the whole multiple-worlds thing, you really can't stick with them.

That's a shame. The stars really are incredible from space. [very barely noticeable 'ack' moment when he realises what he's saying - quick, come up with an explanation] We're lucky we have the orbital elevators, or we'd never be able to show kids what it's like. It's trips like that that make the job worthwhile.

[Okay, change of topic~] The beach, eh? The nearest one's about ten minutes away, give or take. Although, what's so bad about here? [languid arm wave encompassing the very edge of the woods and the pretty grassy area they're walking into~]

[... okay, he had to look away there to hide a smirk. He'll blame it on having to carry his great big lump of a daughter if he's asked. ;)] Yeah, those orbital elevators are nifty little things.

[Makes a "hmm~" face] Well, the beach is all very nice... but you know, this place looks perfect for a picnic. What do you reckon, Haruhi?

[STFU, you have an adorable skinny daughter and you LIKE IT] What's an orbital elevator? That sounds like a ride.

Heh, in a way. The orbital elevators are actually part of the world's solar energy system. There's two currently in operation, one here in the Union and another in the HRL, not including the one being built by the AEU that's still under construction. The elevators are connected to the ring of solar power satellites around the Earth, and they transmit the power generated back down here. That's not what most people use them for, though, they're really more of a way for civilians to get to experience space. Trains run up and down them to the satellite, and anyone can buy a ticket to go up there. Schools run trips into space using them.

[..may have gotten a little carried away, there. Smiles] I like the way you think, Doctor. I could go for a picnic. [looks at Haruhi] Oh, I don't know. It depends. What do you want to eat?

Is there going to be a pop quiz on this later? [Grins]

[He doesn't answer that food question, waiting to see what crazy thing Haruhi will come up with.]

[Laughs, okay so he DID get a bit carried away] It wouldn't be much of a pop quiz if I warned you, would it?

[This is his 'I can tell what you're up to but I don't mind' face~] Most likely whatever you fancy, the stores around here are pretty good. Everything from sandwiches and salad to big noodle dishes.

[Oh hay is that a Haro thar? Ten had almost forgotten he was there, for shame. And unfortunately can't see Haruhi's face and so is completely oblivious to her plotting~]

Probably don't do fish and chips, though. We're on the wrong side of the Atlantic for that.

[as he grins and hands Haro over to Haruhi] I think there's an AEU-style pub that sells it a few streets away. It's not the best, but it'd satisfy a craving.

The pub's about five, maybe ten minutes' walk, anyway.

It's got a certain nostalgic quality to it, yeah. [And guess what? He's completely serious~]

Well, I'm sure we can manage the walk. After all, you need to be able to handle an outrageous amount of running if you're living in the TARDIS.
